The Fairy Rod
7 1/2' 3 piece DT4

New Divine Fairy Rod

This little beauty was first introduced 1917 – only ninety years ago! The Fairy Fly Rod is a 7.5 foot, 3/2 rod for DT4 line. It weighs in at just three ounces. This honey colored rod has a cork reel seat with cap and ring hardware. The grip is a 5.5” slender cigar shape, with the front end tapered down to the cane and wound over with dark red silk.

Fairy Rods - New and Old

The hook keeper is the bridle and ring style and has an “open” wrap, that is, there is a gap between the feet of the bridle.

Fairy Rod Hook Keeper & Decal

Like all the New Divine Rods, a rod shaft decal is placed above the hook keeper. The butt section features a genuine agate stripping guide.

Fairy Rod

The snake guides on the original were of hardened steel which, with time, tended to rust. The New Divine Fairy Fly Rod will feature chrome guides to match the bright Nickel Silver ferrules and reel seat hardware. The Fairy is characterized by its fine tips with its distinctive delicate red intermediate wraps.

The New Fairy Rod has a Snake Brand red agate stripper guide which is the perfect complement to the red wraps.

New Divine Fairy Rod Agate Guide

The reel seat hardware has kept the classic and timeless style of the original Fairy rod.

Fairy Rod Reel Seat with Reel

The attention to detail in recreating this classic even includes having the screw to hold the butt cap in place.

Note: We've elected to use a Phillips screw to differentiate our rods from the originals. And a P.S. for history fans: the Phillips screw was not patented and in wide use until 1936, which was just about the time the Fred D. Divine Company stopped making rods.

New Divine Fairy Rod Butt Cap

Wraps for the Fairy Fly Rod are classic Divine dark red, with full intermediates and a group of closely spaced "Signature" windings at the hook keeper, ferrules and tip-top.

New Divine Fairy Rod & Bag Label

Chris Bogart has worked very hard to replicate the subtle power of this delicate rod. Its casting action is moderate and designed for fishing where precision and style are more important than distance. It is NOT designed for the graphite or testosterone crowd, but this rod is no sissy! You can lay out a long line if necessary. The fine tips will protect a very fine tippet when playing large fish.
